You should ideally have 5 servings per day of fruits and vegetables to improve overall health. Make sure you pick a colorful variety. Fruits and vegetables rich in colors of red, orange and dark green are full of vitamins and minerals. Here are some suggested tips to help you get more veggies in your diet.
Frozen vegetables are a quick and easy way to store and have extra vegetables ready for cooking.
Frozen edamame is a great afternoon snack.
During the cold winter months (which we never see here in SW Fl), I like to make a big pot of vegetable soup to enjoy immediately or freeze for later. I love a cup a soup, even with the Florida heat.
When out to eat, ask for an extra side of vegetables or a side salad instead of fries.
Buy vegetables that are in season – this is a great way to get the most flavorful foods during their peak times and it allows you to change up your meals from season to season. Visit a local farmer's market to find fresh in-season vegetables.
Add a serving of fruit with your breakfast.
Use zucchini noodles (Zoodles) in place of pasta. There are a lot of great spiralizers on the market now to make your own, and many grocery stores now have Zoodles ready for purchase in the produce section.
Use frozen cauliflower rice in place of white rice.
Prep raw veggies for snacking in advance so they are ready to grab from the fridge. For example, cucumber and/or carrot slices in rice vinegar or dipped in hummus.
Buy salad kits – they are quick and easy and there are some great combinations out there now – with slaw mixes, etc..

My husband and I cook with these every week. I think we have tried them all by now and it is such a great way to have fresh whole foods delivered and meal planning already done for you.
